There are people who insist that one should not wear white shoes except in summer. Seasonal fashion trends in the nineteenth century may have led to this rule, which some applied to any item of clothing. The truth is that in today’s world, just about anything goes. On special occasions, such as a symphony gala, you may see people dressed like Egyptian queens, with heavy gold accessories, next to patrons in jeans and t-shirts.
